AOTEAROA

Aotearoa - Land of the Long White Cloud is a book celebrating New Zealand with Maori history, culture and folklore complimented by a mix of my personal and found photography from around the country. My intention was to create a refined book you would purchase from a gift shop or a museum that a traveler might purchase to remember their time here.

The book is filled with real stories, folklore, poems and chants that relate to each location around the two magical islands. I used colors pulled from images so the book had a natural flow. My favorite detail of the book is the location symbol, which is designed to resemble a Hei matau; a Maori symbol usually carved from greenstone and given as a gift. It represents good luck and safe travel across water, which is fitting for my target audience of travelers.
